A Valley Built on Growth and Innovation
The Warwick Valley was founded on vision. In 1719, Benjamin Aske established a farm named Warwick, setting in motion the development of a community that would come to stand for both rural charm and technological ambition. Through the 18th and 19th centuries, fertile farmland, industrious residents and key transportation links — like the 1860 arrival of the Warwick Valley Railroad — propelled the region into a period of thriving commerce and connectivity.
That spirit of progress found new life at the dawn of the 20th century, when a group of 25 Warwick residents met in the Village Building to chart their own path forward in communication.
The Founding of Warwick Valley Telephone
On December 1, 1901, those 25 community members organized the Warwick Valley Telephone Company — an early pioneer in rural telecommunications. Just weeks later, WVT was officially incorporated on January 16, 1902. It wasn’t just about bringing phones to Warwick. It was about bringing people together, creating access and empowering growth.
Over the decades, WVT expanded to meet the changing needs of its community, evolving from voice service to modern broadband offerings, all while staying rooted in the values it was built upon: community, connection and service.
Archtop Fiber: Revitalizing a Legacy
In January 2024, Archtop Fiber completed its acquisition of WVT with a clear goal: to build on this legacy of connectivity and bring ultra-fast, fiber Internet to homes and businesses throughout the Warwick Valley.
But our investment didn’t stop at infrastructure. Today, Archtop operates out of the historic WVT building, the very site where those original community leaders sparked a telecommunications revolution. By bringing cutting-edge broadband to life inside the same walls that once housed switchboards and early operators, we are quite literally bridging Warwick’s past with its future.
We like to think those original founders would be proud to see how far their vision has come — and that it’s still serving the community, more than 120 years later!
