Archtop Fiber Breaks Ground on New All-Fiber Broadband Network, Bringing High-Speed Internet to New York’s Sullivan County

Archtop Fiber Breaks Ground on New All-Fiber Broadband Network, Bringing High-Speed Internet to New York’s Sullivan County 970 300 Archtop Fiber

Let’s Do This, Sullivan County!

Sullivan County is getting a major connectivity upgrade! Last week, we officially broke ground on a brand-new, 100%-fiber network, and we didn’t hold back on the celebration.

The launch took place at the iconic site of Woodstock, the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, where local and state officials, leaders from Archtop, and members of the public came together to mark this major milestone. This event wasn’t just about construction: it signaled the start of a long-overdue digital transformation that will bring new possibilities to thousands of homes and businesses across the area.

Backed by the Power of the ConnectALL Grant Program

This project isn’t just ambitious. It’s funded by one of the state’s most impactful programs, New York’s ConnectALL Municipal Infrastructure Program administered by Empire State Development. Last November, Sullivan County was awarded nearly $30 million in funding — part of the $240 million awarded across the state so far. Now, with that funding in hand, we’re expanding our fiber footprint faster and farther through the County.

“Today marks a historic turning point for Sullivan County — we’re finally bridging the gap that has held back too many communities for far too long,” Governor Kathy Hochul said. “This publicly-owned infrastructure isn’t just about faster Internet — it’s about opening doors to better healthcare, education, and economic opportunities that access to high-speed Internet brings to the table. No New Yorker should be left behind simply because of where they live, and this project ensures that rural communities have the same access to opportunity as anywhere else in our state.”

Fiber-Powered and Future-Ready

Archtop Fiber will deploy 220+ miles of fiber — nearly 100% of which will be underground construction. Once fully implemented, we will service more than 22,000 Sullivan County addresses with Internet capable of delivering 10 Gig speeds. Until now, Sullivan County has been categorized as unserved or underserved. Its rugged terrain, dense forests and low population density have made traditional broadband rollouts slow and challenging. But we’re turning that around — starting now.  We’re building a smart, scalable and sustainable network designed with the future in mind. Even better, this new connectivity will deliver a bevy of benefits to the residents and businesses of Sullivan County, creating new opportunities across nearly every aspect of day-to-day life, including:

  • Better healthcare access through telemedicine
  • More educational opportunities for kids and adults
  • A stronger local economy, powered by digital tools
  • Enhanced e-commerce capabilities for local businesses
  • Job creation (hello, fiber construction crews!)
  • A connected future that doesn’t leave anyone behind

“Archtop Fiber is proud to bring the fastest fiber Internet on the market to Sullivan County,” said Jeff DeMond, Chairman and CEO, Archtop Fiber. “It’s partnerships like this that make a significant impact in local communities. We are committed to helping businesses grow, governments connect and make homes frustration-free, all while making the American dream much more achievable through access to the creator economy.”

What’s Next?

Construction starts this summer, and you’ll start seeing fiber crews in your area soon. Customer installations are expected to begin later this year with full implementation planned for the end of 2026. Get excited!
