Hudson Valley’s Representative Backs Rural Internet Bill Aiming to Increase Access to Federal Funding For Projects

It may have been raining, but our excitement was high as Archtop Fiber welcomed a special guest to its corporate headquarters in Kingston on May 3rd when Congressman Marc Molinaro paid a visit.
The Hudson Valley’s representative met with Archtop Fiber leaders Jeff DeMond, Chairman and CEO, Lenny Higgins, President and COO, Shawn Beqaj, Chief Development Officer, and Diane Quennoz, Chief Customer Officer.

“It was an honor to have Congressman Molinaro take time out of his busy schedule to talk about an issue that is of major concern to both him and all of us here at Archtop Fiber — providing high-speed Internet access to rural communities that have, unfortunately, been neglected for far too long,” Jeff DeMond said. “It was our pleasure to highlight all we are doing to bring 100%-fiber, environmentally friendly Internet to the Hudson Valley and beyond.”
Congressman Molinaro recently announced he is co-sponsor of the Eliminating Barriers to Rural Internet Development Grant Eligibility (E-BRIDGE) Act, which aims to bridge the digital divide in rural communities.
“Gaps in Internet connectivity are holding us back,” Congressman Molinaro said. “That’s why I’m working to expand Internet access in rural communities by backing the E-BRIDGE Act. This bill is going to eliminate barriers to bring more broadband projects online.”

In addition to Archtop’s headquarters, Congressman Molinaro toured our materials storage yard, where just last month our first shipments of fiber and other construction materials arrived. We cannot wait to begin construction in the Kingston area, Town of Ulster and Saugerties. We’re so close!
